The venue for this epic encounter would be the Circuito de Almeria in Southern Spain
hosted by Gary & Denise from BBS Eurotracks. They run a fantastic annual open pitlane event with a small number of bikes/riders over 3 days @ 7 hours per day of track time in the Spanish sunshine which equals as many laps as you can manage. Now we all know pro racers these days are young highly tuned athletes! I have to say a lot (but not all) track day riders ain’t but it is still “The second best fun you can have wearing Leather” ;)
So we have both previously done many circuit events but how would we get on doing it together?
Will we:
A, Be drawn even closer together in our relationship xx
B, Gain mutual respect for each other's ability???
C, Help each other in becoming better/faster/and just generally more fabulous??
D, Just get on with working on our own individual riding!
E, End up totally fed up with each other and getting a divorce????
The bikes arrive
Having crossed the channel via the tunnel and had a slow meandering drive down to Spain through France during April & May this was the first of many track days and brilliant adventures to come.
If you are a regular track day rider/racer you know this bit but not everybody does so bear with me!
So we got to the circuit the evening before to bag the best garage (ie: the one with bog roll and soap in the toilet) also to get our setup, setup. Track days in Spain generally start at 10am so it's nice to be ready to go in the morning without any rushing about, as I have already said this event is open pitlane so you can go onto the circuit at any time and for any duration you wish. This was the Warrior Princess’s first time at Almeria so the first morning was to go out, learn where the track goes and generally get warmed up.
In my humble opinion one of the best ways to learn is to be followed by another bike carrying an action camera thus allowing you to later analyse: lines, body position and admiring just how bloomin fantastic you are :) I think this applies to many activities in life and certainly applies to riding a motorcycle “What you think you are doing can be very different from what you actually do” and footage of your riding shows this brilliantly! The other great benefit was Jake and Mark the ever helpful BBS Eurotracks instructors that also gave The warrior Princess invaluable advice and made the whole event great fun (let's not forget this is what track days are about)
So in conclusion:
A, We are definitely still together XXX
B, We got faster!
C, We got better!
D, We were fabulous!
E, We had lots of fun :)
